University Advice

UCA advises school leavers on a range of issues regarding University choices and applications

A level choices

The decision of narrowing your subjects after GCSEs can be daunting and it may be hard to understand what subjects are needed for particular courses at University.  UCA helps you to think about what subjects you enjoy and identify what universities and future employers are looking for.  At the end of an hour’s consultation at UCA, you leave with a set of A level subjects that compliment each other, compliment your skill set and strengthen your future University/Higher Education application.

University and Degree Course choices

Does the decision of which course and university to choose seem overwhelming?  Are you finding all the many different options of universities and courses confusing?  Or are you a little clearer on what you would like to study but would like help with your application?  Whatever your starting point is, UCA can help you.

During a private consultation with UCA, we seek to understand you and your aspirations.  From there, we advise you on the courses and universities that are best suited to you and put together an application strategy.

University Application process

The application process can seem very confusing so we explain how the British system works and what universities are looking for in prospective students.  We also advise on what needs to be included in the all important personal statement and how to make it stand out from the crowd.

Oxbridge application advice and interview technique

UCA advises pupils on which Oxford/Cambridge colleges are best suited to them and their subject choice, taking into consideration both the academic and pastoral aspects of the colleges. Our advisors unravel the Oxbridge interview myth and help pupils understand what is needed to impress at interview.  We help with communication skills and give a mock style interview focused on subject specific questions as well as the personal statement.  This gives the pupil the confidence and skills to have the best chance of gaining a place at Oxford or Cambridge.

When it comes to interview success, it is clear that the old adage that practice makes perfect is what allows students to shine at interview. After a couple of interview practice sessions with UCA, we see a dramatic difference in pupil’s confidence, communication skills and ability to articulate themselves even when under pressure.
